Senior Technical Adviser for the Essential Health Services Programme in Kenya; Design of 5-year work plan for improvement of maternal and neonatal health indicators in Nyanza Province; design and conduct of  population based baseline surveys in 6 districts in Nyanza Province on availability and functioning of services for maternal and neonatal health, review of national level infrastructure and processes for establishment of a Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths(CEMD),  design of cluster-based approach to build capacity for maternal and newborn health care especially with regard to increased skilled birth attendance and essential obstetric and newborn care, design of evaluation methodology for EHS Programme. (DFID)

Lead Technical Adviser on Safe Motherhood Programme Malawi to improve the quality of Maternal and Neonatal Health at facility level in 3 districts of Malawi by introducing standards-based audit, maternal and perinatal death audit with a design of implementation model that included PDSA cycles. Design of framework for evaluation of improvement in Quality of Care on maternal and newborn health indicators. (The Health Foundation)
